Maura Simokaitis, PA-C

Maura Simokaitis is a board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in Dermatology. She was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Missouri – Columbia. She is the youngest of two brothers and a sister and is an aunt to six nieces and nephews.

Early in her career, Maura gained diverse clinical experience, working as a medical scribe in a Level 1 trauma emergency room, burn clinic, and plastic surgery clinic. She then served as a Patient Care Technician on the oncology inpatient unit at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, gaining hands-on patient care experience with the pediatric population. During this time, she also obtained her phlebotomy certification and worked as a phlebotomist on the weekends. Following this, she obtained her Clinical Medical Assistant certification, gaining additional experience in the Women’s Health/OBGYN outpatient clinic at Washington University in St. Louis.

Maura relocated to Norfolk, Virginia, to attend the Physician Assistant program at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), where she served as her class Vice President and as Vice President of the Student Government Association for the School of Health Professions. She immediately pursued dermatology following graduation, beginning her career at EVMS Dermatology. She currently practices with us at Atlantic Dermatology Associates, where she is welcoming new patients at both the Virginia Beach and Cape Charles locations. She will have a focus on acne, papulosquamous rashes, total skin exams, and skin cancer excisions.  

Outside of work, Maura enjoys baking, exploring new coffee spots, spending time at the beach, traveling, and being with her German Shepherd, Gracie. She is an active volunteer and foster at the Norfolk SPCA, and also enjoys fitness and participates in her monthly book clubs.
